Incoloy 800H Anchor Bolts

Incoloy 800H anchor bolts per ASTM F1554 and ASTM B408, UNS N08810
Incoloy 800H anchor bolts per ASTM F1554 + B408

Incoloy 800H anchor bolts are structural foundation fasteners machined from ASTM B408 round bar for high-temperature mounting applications where the parent structure transmits heat to the anchor and standard carbon-steel anchors would relax or oxidize. Typical service includes hot-zone heat-exchanger saddle anchoring, fired-heater support-leg bolting, refractory-anchor stud welding into vessel walls, and reformer support-shoe bolting. TorqBolt machines anchor bolts in diameter range M12 to M64 with overall lengths cut to project drawing (including bent-leg or hooked configurations on PO call-out). The standard anchor bolt is a single-end-threaded stud with a plain shank for embedment into the parent structure (concrete, fire-brick or welded boss). Every anchor bolt ships with EN 10204 type 3.1 mill test certificate documenting heat number, ASTM B408 chemistry, solution-anneal cycle and ASTM grain size 5 verification. The alloy choice is driven by sustained temperature, not by structural-design code; anchor bolt design loading is per the project structural drawing.

Manufacturing Route at TorqBolt

Anchor bolt manufacture is print-driven; thread length, plain shank length, bend geometry and embedment-end profile are specified by the project structural drawing:

  1. Receive Incoloy 800H bar to ASTM B408; PMI verification on each heat.
  2. Cut bar to overall length per print (including bend allowance if hooked).
  3. Centerless grind plain shank to bar tolerance.
  4. Thread one end (or both ends if double-end anchor) per print: thread length 2.5d typical, class 2A or 6g.
  5. Cold-bend embedment end if hooked configuration (J-hook, L-hook, T-bar) per print.
  6. Solution anneal at 1149 deg C plateau followed by rapid quench (cold-bent areas require post-bend anneal); grain size 5 verified.
  7. Hardness band 120-184 HB on first piece and one per batch.
  8. Visual + dimensional + PMI inspection 100 percent.
  9. Heat-stamp grade marking on threaded end; pack with template plates and nut + washer sets per print.

Inspection and Heat Marking

Anchor bolt specific inspection points cover thread quality, plain shank straightness, bend radius and embedment-end profile:

  • Thread engagement length verified per print.
  • Plain shank straightness checked to 0.5 mm per metre over full length.
  • Bend radius and bend angle verified on hooked configurations.
  • Embedment-end profile verified against print (J-hook, L-hook or plate detail).
  • Hardness band 120-184 HB after post-bend solution anneal.
  • ASTM E112 grain-size etch verification including cold-bent areas.
  • PMI by X-ray fluorescence on first piece and one per batch.
  • Heat number stamped on the threaded end for traceability per ASTM B408.

Typical Service Conditions

Incoloy 800H anchor bolts are specified where the parent structure transmits heat above 540 deg C (1000 deg F) to the anchor, making carbon-steel anchors unsuitable:

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Are Incoloy 800H anchor bolts qualified to ASTM F1554?
F1554 is a carbon-steel anchor bolt specification (grades 36, 55 and 105). Incoloy 800H anchor bolts are not F1554-qualified; they are dimensionally machined to the F1554 geometry on call-out but the material certificate references ASTM B408 chemistry. Structural-design loading is per the project structural drawing, not per F1554.

Q. Can anchor bolts be supplied with hooked or J-bolt configuration?
Yes. Standard supply is straight single-end-threaded stud. Hooked (J, L) and T-bar embedment ends are cold-bent to print and solution annealed post-bend to restore ASTM grain size 5.

Q. What is the maximum length for a one-piece anchor bolt?
Standard one-piece length is 1500 mm. Longer anchors are supplied as field-spliced sections with coupling nuts for joint.

Q. Is the embedment end machined to a special profile?
Per print. Common embedment profiles are plain stud (concrete grout-cast), J-hook (concrete grout-cast), L-hook (concrete grout-cast) and plate-on-end (welded baseplate for refractory anchor).

Q. Are template plates supplied with anchor bolt sets?
Yes on PO call-out. Carbon-steel or stainless-steel template plates with drilled hole pattern matching the anchor bolt set are supplied on request for field installation.
