Incoloy 800H tubing (UNS N08810, Werkstoff 1.4876) covers OD 1/8 in (3.18 mm) through 2 in (50.8 mm) in both the seamless route to ASTM B163 / ASME SB-163 and the welded route to ASTM B515 / ASME SB-515, supplied in 6 m straight lengths and U-bend configurations for heat exchanger bundles. Wall thickness from 0.028 in (0.71 mm) through 0.220 in (5.59 mm) in BWG and metric schedules. Tubing is solution annealed at 2050 deg F (1121 deg C) and quench-cooled to lock in ASTM grain size 5 or coarser per B163 / B515. Surface finish ranges from 80-grit ground (default) to bright-annealed for clean-service applications. EN 10204 type 3.1 certificate by default; type 3.2 third-party witness from Lloyds Register, DNV, BV, SGS or TUV on call-out. For OD above 2 in see the pipe hub instead.

ASTM B163 / ASME SB-163 covers seamless Ni-Fe-Cr 800H tubing produced by cold-draw with intermediate process-anneal, ending with full solution-anneal at 2050 deg F and quench. B163 is the dominant standard for heat-exchanger tubing, condenser tubing and reformer pigtail blanks. Eddy-current per ASTM E243 at 100 percent of length on tubing up to 2 in OD. Hydrotest per B163 paragraph 14. Each tube goes through dimensional check at the cut end and surface inspection by visual + dye-penetrant on a sample basis. Grain size per ASTM E112 grade 5 or coarser. Tensile at room temperature on a coupon per heat lot.
ASTM B515 / ASME SB-515 covers longitudinally welded 800H tubing formed from strip and seam-welded by GTAW or laser, with the weld solution-annealed alongside the parent metal. B515 is the economical route for OD 1 in to 2 in where seamless is mill-order and lead time is critical. Eddy current per ASTM E309 at 100 percent of length on the parent metal plus the longitudinal weld. Bend test on coupon per heat lot - 180 deg around a mandrel of 4 times the wall thickness, no cracking allowed. Hydrotest per B515 paragraph 14. The longitudinal weld is verified by radiographic inspection per ASTM E94 on a sample basis per heat.

Each tube length carries an EN 10204 type 3.1 mill certificate with heat-number chemistry, solution-anneal cycle, eddy-current pass record, hydrotest, mechanical results, hardness and grain-size verification. Eddy-current per ASTM E243 covers 100 percent of the tube length for seamless B163. For welded B515, eddy-current per ASTM E309 covers the weld plus parent metal. Hydrotest per B163 / B515 paragraph 14 at the parent-spec pressure with 5 minute hold. EN 10204 type 3.2 third-party witness on call-out from Lloyds Register, DNV, BV, SGS or TUV.
For tubing OD above 2 in see pipe. For thicker-wall heavy-duty tubing for high-pressure service see seamless tube. For finned tubing or U-bent bundles see the heat exchanger tubes page. Parent metal chemistry per UNS N08810; design data per mechanical properties and ASME design stress tables.
Q. Can you supply 800H U-tubes for heat exchanger bundles?
Yes. U-bend forming per TEMA RCB-2.31 with bend radius from 1.5 to 8 times the tube OD. Post-bend solution-anneal at 2050 deg F per ASTM B163 to relieve cold work and restore grain structure. Each U-tube is hydrotested after bending. Maximum tube length supplied 18 m straight prior to U-bend forming.
Q. Bright-annealed vs 80-grit ground - which finish for which service?
Bright-annealed for clean-process, food-grade, instrument tubing and ultra-clean steam service. 80-grit ground (default) for heat-exchanger tubing, condenser tubing and general process service - the ground finish keys well to tube-sheet packing material. For corrosive service pick pickled-passivated.
Q. What length is the longest 800H tube you can supply?
Standard mill lengths to 6 m straight. For long single-pass tubes up to 18 m are available on indent from mill source with 12 to 16 week lead time. For lengths above 18 m, butt-weld two tubes with full radiographic acceptance of the joint.
Q. Is 800H tubing qualified to ASME Section VIII Div 1 for pressure vessel use?
Yes. ASTM B163 and B515 tubing in the solution-annealed condition is listed in ASME Section II Part B (SB-163, SB-515) and is fully qualified to ASME Section VIII Div 1 boiler and pressure-vessel construction. Design stress curves are published in ASME Section II Part D to 815 deg C (1500 deg F).
